Defining a Data Grid
Jan 16th, 2008 by Eric Samson
Seen on TheServerSide a Cameron Purdy’s blog entry, former CEO of Tangosol, another good caching technology, acquired by Oracle last year.
I used to have problems understanding the notion Data Grid itself, beyond the hype. To me it raises as many questions as answers. I recently changed my mind a little bit, and I will later explain in this blog what could be a grid of Data Access Services (DAS).

To understand better how In - Memory Data Grids fits in relative to existing data base i’d suggest that you would also look at:
PaaS – Persistence as a Service which is an attempt to define how you can use In Memory Data Grid as a the system of record and maintain consistency, durability, high availability in-memory without relying on the data base for that matter and while keeping the data base in sync using reliable asynchronous replication.
I would be interested in your view on that matter.

Hello Nati,
Thank you for the link, I’ll definitely have a look at it.
And please, say hello to Shay for me
