I’ve heard several complaints about the lack of identity in SDO. This is sadly true and even more critical for the DAS.
The SDO / DAS expert groups are working on it. We should have a solution for that in upcoming versions of these standards.

Pinaki Poddar started an initiative within Apache Labs for a JPA-based DAS (Fluid).
He explored a JPA-based DAS approach via Fluid which is an Apache Lab project signifying its exploratory approach.
Fluid, through a prototype implementation, establishes the feasibility of such an approach without any modification to JPA.

Definitely not!
There is some confusion about SDO in the industry. I’ve recently seen posts and comments in various blogs and expert groups spreading misconceptions about SDO.
It seems they are afraid by SDO or DAS trying to define yet another standard for persistence.
